The nose was ugly, long, and big, Broad and snouty like a pig

This could be the cutest insect I've ever stumbled over. It's known to us westernized humans as Curculionidae curculio spp‏, a weevil with hair, from what I can see from the picture. I can't find any information about this particular species, but weevils are the largest group of beetles with over 60,000 species. I am kind of facinated by its antennae that is placed on its snout, rather than on the head (as I'm used to, when seeing an insect).

Family Curculionidae. Called "horses", "devils", etc.. They are characterized by having the head prolonged into a tube, resembling a beak; masticator mouthparts, antennae layered or geniculate. They are very compact and hard. The most common species are black color with white stripes or pits. The behavior of the larvae is varied, some of them may live in the soil, feeding on roots (Naupactus xanthographus), others damaged wood in trees weakened or overturned (Empleurodes dentipes); other damage the cambium in trees overturned (Rhyephenes spp. ), others behave as defoliating (Gonipterus scutellatus).
